Seeding Confusion in Kashmir Narrative and Rent A Writers
Punchline Seeding Confusion In Kashmir Narrative By Z.G. Muhammad Seeding confusion for subverting the resistance movements is an old trick. It is a lethal weapon that the dominant forces have been using for altering the paradigms of the struggles for justice and fair play. For subverting the resistance movements, and dissuading the struggling people from their goals the dominant forces confound the public mind by imposing alternative discourses and conjuring dominant phraseology. Why Did Plebiscite Front Die?
Z.G. MUHAMMAD On a cold but not freezing February afternoon pushing my way through crowded and crushing Residency Road to a nearby bookshop I was stopped by an old time Plebiscite Front worker. Given to intolerance of some contemporary “top” leaders, “clerics” and their “hangers-on”, initially, I thought, he has not liked some of my writings about once towering leader or his scions. There was no anger on his face but from expressions on his face, I … Read entire article »

Who am I? Where are my roots? What is my identity? Do I have an identity of my own or I am just a part of the sub-continental identity? Does this identity provide basis to my grand narrative? How and why has my ‘identity’ become part of the “dominant discourse”? To tell me who I am, some years back a beeline of “scholars’, “researchers”, “think … Read entire article »

Understanding the Kashmir Identity
Kashmir Identity, (a presentation made in 2002 at IMPA auditorium) Mr. Chairman, colleagues Good Morning I feel humbled in this gathering of scholars and researchers. Much before I start my talk, with all humility I would request you to bear with me for my shortcomings. At the same time, I would also request you to feel free to point out deficiencies and scantiness of my talk. I very firmly believe that a toddler like me has to learn … Read entire article »
