I think this statement of Mr.Abdul Gani Bhat has stemmed from the other
political window of Kashmir that always remains invisible to popular eye. There is no doubt about the fact that Kashmir question is no more even among the least prioritized agenda of United Nations. It was used and misused during cold war because United States was seeking Pakistan's assistance against the Soviet Union.Once United States achieved its objective and Soviet Union collapsed,Pakistan was thrown like a toilet paper by US.Therefore it is not unnatural to find the growing friendship of India and United States because of the nature of economic opportunities that Indian Economy is throwing up in global world. Therefore United Nations is not going to table Kashmir problem for solution any time in future now nor can Pakistan expect any major role in international relations and pressurize United States for Kashmir's resolution.Keeping the growing strength of China and Russia in the region United States wants to prop up Afghanistan. The US foreign policy objectives assert the need to have strong regional allies to exert constructive influence and the countries that are stable both politically and in economic terms. Therefore If Mr Abdul Gani Bhat has offered an interesting insight it should be debated and widely discussed because keeping in view the domestic politics his opinion is pregnant with wonderful political alignments that shall follow once the election schedule is announced.Kashmir's separatist politics has always been appropriated for personal political gains and the invisible window has again opened let us see who's turn is it now.Professor (Dr.) Rattan Lal Hangloo

The beauty of these great people you have mentioned was that they learned deen for the sake of Allaah and practiced what they preached.
Nowadays preachers learn the deen to defeat other preachers in debates and eloquence and do not practice what they preach. How do we expect to see unity when we are working for division?

Wajahat Habibullah, for being Div Com, might be privy to what happened with dr Guru. But he has left a serious question unanswered. He says JK Police was not comfortable with Guru and so got him killed. But as we know the situation then, JK police was a non-actor then. The Srinagar city was under the control of BSF, rural Kashmir was handed over to army. Arrests, crackdowns, search operations all were carried by these forces. Police was acting like Red Cross then, collecting bodies, burying them and handing them over to families. Most members of the police were sympathetic towards Kashmir movement. Just around Dr Guru's killing, we witnessed how JK Police revolted and hit streets against government. Government had to call army to crush police rebellion. Around 600 policemen had to surrender before the army. They were disarmed and terminated from their services. If we go by the statement of JKLF then it said: Two JKLF activists met Dr Guru and Dr Khursheed Alam in SKIMS and asked them to attend party's supreme council meeting. Both Dr Guru and Dr Alam hired autoricksha to reach the meeting venue. Dr Guru was kidnapped by armed persons midway and killed. It is anybody's guess that Dr Guru would not have accepted the meeting invitation if he would not have known the two persons who messaged him for the meeting. If it is a fact that Dr Khursheed Alam too was with Dr Guru at the time of his abduction.

Moreover, I, along with Altaf Hussain (them working for BBC) visited the house at Nagbal where Zulkarnain was killed. The inmates said that a BSF party camping at Bagh-e-Ali Mardaan cracked down on the house and shot Zulkarnain dead.

Kashmir's problem can not be solved unless all Kashmiree leaders speak in one voice for settling the regions political future. All of them appropriate separatist attitude for sustaining their politics. The Indian establishment knows this behaviour of Kashmiri politicians so well that there is no breakdown of correspondence between the pro-Indian and Anti Indian voices. This not a new tendency. After all King Jaluka of felt proud in calling himself the son Of Emperor Ashoka.Except brief interval of Zain-ul Abidin the Sultanate was dominated by civil war till ultimately we subjected Kashmir to Mughals. In this process the Kashmiri political elite always played significant role.Same chapter was repeated in facilitating Afghan,Sikh and Dogra rule. From 1947 we are all witness to what is happening. Each time it is common people who are victims of these atrocities and uncertainties.Ithink a local Kashmiri poet has summed it up nicely when he says: chai na khahish pan kinnas cham khabar--
vakhat ken sodagaran van kya karakh
so unless these sodagars are not stoped to sell Kashmir can not come out of this turmoil.
